Brownies (Cake-Type)
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 2 1-ounce squares unsweetened chocolate
- 3/4 cup sifted enriched flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup walnuts
Melt shortening and chocolate together in a double boiler; cool. Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt. Beat eggs till light; stir in sugar, then blend in chocolate mixture; stir in flour mixture, vanilla, and nuts. Pour into greased 8x8x2 inch pan. Bake at 350 for 30-35 minutes. Cool; cut in squares. Dust with powdered sugar.
